The long-wandering minotaur Valon Strock returns to his home, the desert city of Az, on a desperate mission. He must speak before the Azian Senate regarding an urgent military matter. But for his voice to be heard, he must complete the rite of adulthood and citizenship of all minotaur: traversing the perilous maze built in ages long past by the city's founders. It is the task of all minotaur to descend these long, dark passages alone, and find their way out, or be lost forever.
