This collection of poems comes from what is on my grandmother's mind. Her 98 years of living has given birth to these reflections as what could be described as "folk poetry". Much like African American folk art is derived from the experiences of a people influenced by history and culture and delivered in a raw nature, her poetry can be seen in similar fashion. She expresses how she feels and what's on her mind as it relates to her life experiences. Her offerings give us insight on life from her perspective. In reading her work you will see her connection to family and faith and the importance of practicing compassion and understanding towards others.
