Sin embargo, fueron sus Rimas las que le aportaron mayor fama, ya que iniciaron la corriente romantica de poesia intimista inspirada en Heine y opuesta a la retorica y ampulosidad de poetas romanticos anteriores. Las Rimas han sido publicadas en numerosas ocasiones y su influencia en toda la poesia moderna ha sido definitiva. Las mas conocidas de ellas son El monte de las animas, El rayo de luna y El beso.
