This text shows that the sovereign Congolese conceived the Congo with the colonialist thinking of the Belgians. The sovereignty acquired on 30/06/1960 was not accompanied by an administrative vision different from that of Belgium. As a result, the administrative delimitation of the DRC is a colonial legacy that has been assimilated without profound modification based on a new model of exploitation and management of the national territory. In other words, without colonization, the Congolese would find it difficult to define their own development and spatial management model. Congolese political institutions therefore need to review their development plan for the DRC, based on a realistic mapping of the country according to the particularities of each entity.
