Thomasville: My Hometown explores the African American historic sites in Thomasville, Georgia, my hometown. I began this journey in 2016 to gain a deeper understanding of the place I call home. Throughout the process, I uncovered a richer history I had never realized existed. While the book primarily consists of photographs, it also serves as a valuable educational tool everyone can appreciate and learn from. Growing up, we often referred to Thomasville as the white side of town or the Black side of town. We were unaware that the areas we called the Black side were actually settlements established by formerly enslaved people after the Civil War ended.
