My name is Martin Drake, and I'm a teacher. At least, I was until I wandered down a dark alley to save an old lady from rabid dogs. Boy, was that a mistake. They were a pack of mutated wolves, and the old lady proved far more dangerous.

Now I'm running from world to world with Blackbird, a ruthless, magic-wielding Wayfarer with a familiar face. Everywhere we go, there's a new apocalypse, and that's before she gets to work.

Why are we running? A terrible evil is on our tail, and if we don't reach the wayfarer's headquarters in time, I can kiss Earth-and every other world-goodbye.
