Meet Master Sergeant Calvin Hampton, United States Air Force. He is a tough, battle-hardened, no-nonsense veteran, combat-bred at the tail-end of World War II on Kwajelin Islands during the Korean Police Action in June 1950. Cal’s job seemed simple enough. To take a supply train north from Seoul, South Korea, in the dead of winter, through enemy territory, to the Chosen Reservoir, giving the beleaguered and battered Marines a chance to fight their way to the Sea of Japan and freedom. Cal quickly realized several skirmishes with the enemy proved costly. Now, there were so many wounded and dead. However, fate was not through with him yet. Cal fell in love with a beautiful Japanese woman, who befriended him, turning his world upside down. Even a catastrophic ditching at sea could not shake their bonded love. Cal had one more chance to return to Japan.
