Culture, by definition, is the accumulated lessons from our ancestors-lessons that define who we are and where we come from. These lessons include our language, history, spirituality, values, artistic expressions, customs, and practices. As the main components of culture, these lessons provide us with a better understanding of our history and identity; they link us to the past, present, and future. Therefore, without culture and its vital components, we lose our identity as a distinguished people.

The Proud People is a direct translation of stories, histories and traditions recorded, archived, and shared orally from generation to generation.

The book is an extreme insight into the Dinka people.
