In this first edition of God in Flight (reprint), originally published in 2003, a young gay man wanders through the busy landscapes of tourist-filled city streets, alluring sexual backdrops grounds found in its gay nightlife, the sheltering solitude within a safe apartment, and nurturing similes and metaphors from the landscapes of his youth all in hopes to define himself, his longing for the "other" and his spiritual desire to connect with the world around him. The book begins asking "what must i begin to be living?/what country happens upon me?" And follows as this displacement fuels an anxiety in which a poetic language defines a momentum where the poet: "[wakes] alone/through wanting but [finds]/[he's] only parts way here."
