Rafael Rajner, Henry Lew book launch
Festival Club, ACMI, Fed Square
This book is a retreived version of the first Holocaust memoir published in Australia, in 1948. Is is also one of the earliest memoirs ever written. The orignial book was written in Yiddish. It has now been adapted into English, with the voluntary assistance of 25 righteous tranlaters, worldwide, a separate story in itself, which is also covered in the book. Even the most famous memoirs by Primo Levi and Elie Wiesel only gained significant recognition after they were translated into English after the Eichmann trial of 1961. Rajzer’s book was buried with him when he died in 1953.
