Join us and Vanessa Francesca, The Australian book reviewer and freelance journalist, for the launch of The Sorrow of Miles Franklin Beneath Mount Kajmakčalan by the award winning Macedonian author, Ivan Capovski (trans by Paul Filev). In 1917 one of Australia’s most celebrated novelists, Miles Franklin, author of My Brilliant Career, throws herself into the maelstrom of war as a volunteer nurse in the mountains of the Macedonian front. Partly based on Miles Franklin’s own journals and historical documents this fictionalised story is lyrical evocation of war-torn Macedonia and a writer at the crossroads of her artistic career.
