Important information for Christmas 2009

To ensure your Christmas orders arrive before Christmas Day please make sure they are placed by 5pm on December 16 2009 for orders shipping within Australia or by December 10 2009 if your order is shipping internationally (provided the items you have selected are in stock). Delivery before Christmas cannot be guaranteed for orders placed after these dates.

The Basics

All in-stock titles are available to order online. Items that are currently not in-stock but are available can be back-ordered. Pre-ordered items will be shipped once they are in-stock. Prices are subject to change without notice and may vary between the website and other Readings shops.

In-store availability is updated daily.

Freight

• Australia: $6.50 for 1 item, FREE for complete orders amounting to $50 or more
• New Zealand: $AUS7.95 for 1 - 3 items, $AUS10 for 4+ items
• Asia Pacific: 1.5 x weight (For example a 1kg package will cost $AUS15)
• Rest of World: 2 x weight (A 400g package will cost $AUS8) with a minimum freight cost of A$7.95.

If an order is shipped to a delivery address outside of Australia then GST will not be charged on the items on that order.

Readings does not accept cash or cheques for the payment of items online. Readings accepts no responsibility for the theft, loss or otherwise non-delivery of mailed cash or cheques.

Unfortunately we do not yet have the facility to accept payment for online orders with Readings Gift Cards.

Delivery

Items in-stock at Carlton are dispatched within 48 business hours.

Delivery times include processing times. Orders placed on holidays or weekends will be processed on the next business day. Once items are lodged with Australia Post Readings cannot be responsible for lost or delayed packages but will endevour to track orders where possible. If delays are experienced please check in with your local Australia Post office and if your order hasn’t arrived after 3 weeks please contact us. Readings does not stock all items in one location. Please allow 5 business days for an item to arrive if it is transferred from another shop. We have five shops in Metropolitan Melbourne plus other off-site locations. Items that are currently not in-stock but are available can be ordered and in most cases can take an extra 2 to 3 weeks delivery time.

Readings makes every effort practical to ensure that delivery timeframes provided are accurate. However the delivery times stated for products on this site assume that the stock availability information provided by our suppliers is accurate and that delivery times are not adversely affected by unforseen events.

By placing an order online, you agree not to hold Readings liable for any loss or damage directly or indirectly arising out of or in connection with any delay or failure to deliver within the estimated time frame.

Bulk Rates (Recommended for Book Clubs, Libraries, Corporates)

Readings offers the following discounts on orders for multiple copies of the one item:

• 5 to 9 copies – 10% discount
• 10 to 19 copies – 15% discount
• 20 plus copies – 20% discount

Bargain Books

Bargain books (mostly found on the Bargains page) are made available at a heavily discounted price and although we strive to supply them in the best quality possible they may occasionally be received slightly less than mint condition.

Libraries and Schools

Institutional Customers - such as libraries and schools - order books, CDs and DVDs in bulk from Readings by placing their orders through the Readings website. Readings appreciates the support that Institutional Customers show by ordering from Readings and supporting independent bookselling. Gift Wrapping

We can gift-wrap your order for no additional charge. There is also the option to include a message to the recipient that can be written on a Readings gift tag.

FAQ

Q: How do I get free shipping when I order online at Readings?
A: All orders that amount to $50 or more automatically receive free freight within Australia. We will send out your order when we have all your order's items together.

Q: I want the item/s on my order that are available now to be sent out immediately. Can this be done?
A: Yes! We can send out items that are immeditely available and then send the remainder of your order when it arrives, for a one-off freight charge of $6.50. Let us know if you want to do this in the 'Notes' field at checkout.

Q: When will my credit card be charged if I order online?
A: Your credit card will not be charged until all items are ready for dispatch. If there are any price changes or an item is unavailable we will contact you before charging your credit card.

Q: My order is being delivered overseas. Will my order include Australian tax (aka GST)?
A: No. GST is deducted from the total cost of your order upon shipping.

Q: I requested a freight quotation for my international order. What happens next?
A: You will receive a second email shortly after you've placed your order with your freight quotation. Please reply to this email to approve the freight amount.

Q: My order is going to a different shipping address. Can I still get a tax invoice?
A: Yes, please email us with your order number and we will arrange a tax invoice to be sent out to you.

Q: Do you accept all credit cards?
A: We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express.

Q: I don't have a credit card. Can I pay another way?
A: Yes! You can order with us by either by post (mail your order along with a money order or cheque to Readings, PO Box 1066, Carlton, 3053) or by phone (03 9347 6633).

Q: Can I use my Readings Gift Card to buy online?
A: Unfortunately, not at this stage. But we do have plans to change this in the future. In the meantime, if you can't get to a Readings shop you can mail the Carlton shop your Gift Card along with a list of the items you want and we will process your order for you.
