What The Sea Wants The Sea Will Have: Sarah Blasko
If you look up 'slow burn' in the music dictionary, you'll see a photo of Ms Blasko. Her debut album of 2004, The Overture & The Underscore, has quietly sold around 50,000 copies in Australia, which is unheard of for a debut album by a largely un-hyped artist. Now comes the difficult part - releasing your second album under the spotlight of expectation, often the point at which an artist's career goes awry. Fortunately that's not the case here, as Blasko has again created a beautiful and surreal world (the album cover will surely win awards), one that I think is more diverse and interesting than her debut.
