The Unscratchables: Anthony O’Neill

Career-cop bull terrier Crusher McNash, still haunted by flashbacks to his time as a Siamese POW, is sickened to learn he must work with prissy Siamese FBI agent Cassius Lap – an expensively suited, soy-lapping intellectual from the rich side of the river. But as they wade through the corrupt underworld of San Bernardo, Crusher slowly comes to realise that his despised feline colleague may not really be the enemy at all …

Okay – the characters in this book are cats and dogs. Once you get used to this, The Unscratchables is a clever, urbane and at times laugh-out-loud-funny satire of very human behaviour. Strange, but very enjoyable.
