It wouldn’t be Dead Write without a Scandinavian entry, and February’s is The Healer, a Finnish crime book set, interestingly, in a post-apocalyptic future where flooding and riots are the norm and everyone is fleeing north. Left behind is poet Tapani Lehtinen, whose journalist wife goes missing in a world without the resources to find her. An understated writing style is nevertheless evocative in showing both the death of a metropolis and the fervent perseverance of a writer for his love.
