The Bear With the Sword: Davide Cali and Gianluca Foli

He may be big with a powerful sword and go on a slashing rampage, but eventually the repercussions of destroying the forest will stop even a big wilful bear in his tracks.

One morning a huge flood destroys his fortress (starting to ring a bell?) and bear goes on the warpath to seek revenge, only to learn that the sequence of events, as the animals of the forest are displaced, were his own doing. Putting his sword down, repentant bear sets about making amends and in doing so, finds friends.

The exuberant illustrations are a perfect extension of the text and surely there has not been a better-depicted bear since We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. Ages 3+.
