Sugaring Season by Beth Orton
Oh, Beth,
here to steal our hearts again with her first album in six years,
soulful and yearning as ever. ‘Magpie’ takes for its nest the best
of her older songs, but with polished edges and dark corners that
round into something soft and gentle.
‘Something More Beautiful’ bursts with all the pieces of a ballad, taking Orton’s singular, fragmenting voice and building it into something expansive and voluminous before drifting back into the raw folk that is all at once her own.

haphazardly about movies and books (and sometimes music) and you
