John Schneiderman and Oleg Timofeyev (aka The Czar’s Guitars) have joined together to champion the Russian guitar, hoping to garner it the respect and recognition it deserves. At the centre of this recording is Fernando Sor’s magnificent Souvenir de Russie.

This duet has been recorded before, but arguably not better than the performance on this disc. In fact, all performances here are beautifully played and if you are, like I was, unfamiliar with these works, then you are in for a pleasant surprise. Hopefully there will be more to come from this accomplished duo.
