If you don't know the 15 Shostakovich Symphonies, then I have to say, you're missing out! This particular recording is 11 CDs long and also includes the Six Poems of Marina Tsvetaeva. It's also fantastically good. There are solos continually through all the symphonies and they are all strong instrumentalists. The musical consistency of all the phrases are beautiful and while this all sounds like over exaggerated guff, this is the recording I choose to listen to for Shostakovich Symphonies. This is a must have for any orchestral lover.
