Not being very well versed in classical guitarists of the world I was completely blown away from the very first delicately plucked notes of this album. Pepe Romero, I soon found out is part of the legendary guitarist family and quartet, The Romeros. This is Pepe’s first solo album on Deutsche Grammophon but in every intricately shaped phrase you can hear the years of performing and total control of this instrument. I found this wistful album a balm after a days work and yet strangely mentally stimulating in the expressive virtuosity. If you are fan of guitar music, this is a must have album. However if you are simply a fan of good music, then this is also a must for you.
