Mozart: Piano Concertos, Grimaud
Helene Grimaud is already a world renowned pianist, so when I found out she had never recorded Mozart until this album I was surprised. But I have to say, it was well worth the wait. There is a balance and precision in this album, both in the sound quality and musicianship that I found instantly appealing. I love Mozart’s orchestrations in his piano concertos and felt I discovered them all over again. With an interlude of a recitative and Rondo from Idomeneo with Mojca Erdmann as soprano this is one of those rare, truly enjoyable performances.
