JS Bach: Concertos & Transcriptions, Yang
Xuefei Yang’s star has been shining brightly from her debut album Romance de Amor and it has continued to shine brightly with all subsequent offerings. Her new album is her transcriptions of Bach’s harpsichord concerto in D minor, the two violin concertos and music of Bach’s arranged for solo guitar. The winning move here has been to use the Elias String Quartet as her orchestra for the concertos. This allows the guitar to really standout and of course it doesn’t hurt to have a soloist as talented as Xuefei Yang. This really is an outstanding album. Everything is beautifully played and the sound and balance of the recording is excellent.
