Matt Walker is known as a producer and gun-for-hire, having added distinctive guitar sounds to music from Liz Stringer, Brod Smith and many more. In Echoes of Dawn showcases his maturation as a songwriter and a multi-instrumentalist. Lyrics deal with loneliness, the breakdown of a relationship and the thoughts of a soldier fighting an unknown enemy in a dirty guerrilla war.

There is the very fine ‘Back to the Hills’, a J.J. Cale homage, ‘Can’t Sleep’, a track with superb slide and acoustic guitar and violin, and the wonderful and optimistic ‘Mama Go Tell Your Children’.

In Echoes at Dawn was recorded at Matt’s studio in the Victorian hills, and early copies come with the bonus disc, Lost Ragas, which will appeal to fans of his more aggressive and atmospheric instrumental side.
