Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood: Live From Madison Square Gardens
This two-disc live recording from February 2008 finds these two musical legends reunited for the first time in 40 years since their days in the supergroup Blind Faith. Winwood and Clapton resume their musical relationship with intuitive playing and great respect shown to each other’s back catalogue, as well as a couple of Jimi Hendrix tunes thrown in. Highlights include a sterling rendition of their Blind Faith classic In the Presence of the Lord and Clapton’s After Midnight, written for him by J.J. Cale. It is interesting to note that Clapton’s recent release with J.J. Cale was stunning, as is the latest release by Steve Winwood, Nine Lives, proving both are at the top of their game.
