Doodle Bites: Polly Dunbar
Doodle is a crocodile who wakes up one morning feeling extremely bitey. After biting almost everything she spies (including Tumpty the elephant's large and admittedly irresistible bottom), mayhem ensues. Tumpty retaliates, people start crying and all of a sudden everyone insists on getting a bandaid, bitten or not. Tilly chastises Doodle and explains that it's not nice to bite your friends, but still makes sure that Doodle feels loved. While the book has an undeniable message, it is also just great fun to read out loud (mmm, BITEY BITEY!).
Doodle Bites is part of Polly Dunbar's excellent Tilly and Friends series which feature six friends who live in a yellow house. Six Tilly and Friends books have been released so far in hardcover, all featuring cheeky illustrations and colour schemes that make me think about ice cream.
