I have always felt that Anton Bruckner has never quite been given the attention he deserves from the classical music public. Hopefully this new recording of motets will change that perception. This is the choral singing equivalent of performing a high-wire routine without a net – each piece is performed with a raw energy that is at once controlled and beautiful. Full credit must be given to Duncan Ferguson and his choir for their glorious performance, for without this dedication to the music it would be just notes on a page.
