Bernstein's Mahler DVD
Leonard Bernstein is the artist who fully introduced the world to the magnificent symphonies of Gustave Mahler. A new DVD release fraom Deutsche Grammophon features a single movement from each of the compeleted nine symphonies led by Bernstein over his full conducting career. Performers include the Vienna Symphony, London Symphony and Edinburgh Festival Chorus. It's a lovely collection, with thoughtful selections in movements. The musicianship is sound, and it's terrific to be able to watch this pre-eminent conductor at work.
