Dances is the second release for Chandos by the Aquarelle Guitar Quartet. This collection highlights the versatility of the classical guitar, which, with its percussive capabilities, lends itself extremely well to the rhythmic energies of many dance forms. The collection includes works from Egberto Gismonti, Luigi Boccherini, Astor Piazzolla, Bireli Lagrene, Catriona McKay, and also a new commission from British saxophonist Andy Scott. All pieces are beautifully recorded and performed. Highly recommended.
