I feel like Decca, as part of their Virtuoso series have been on a mission lately to make sure that every amazing musician and recording in their catalogue is easily available. And while I applaud this wholeheartedly I feel completely overwhelmed with the breadth and depth of music at my finger tips. One of the genuinely delightful and sweet sounding recordings I listened to recently was the 19 Chopin Waltzes recorded by Claudio Arrau in 1980. It’s full of simple interpretations of some of the greatest piano waltzes ever written. If you’re just looking for a good CD to have, this one will fill a hole in your collection you didn’t know you had.
