The late Hank Jones played piano for practically every superstar jazz singer/band including Benny Goodman, Ella Fitzgerald and Diana Krall. So here is his final recording, and perhaps fittingly it is a collection of old time religious spiritual songs that his fellow musician Charlie Haden selected. They achieve a real respect for the original melodies and produce an elegant, almost lullaby ambience for adults who just want some peace. If 2012 is the year of the atheist, then this album is the alternative for those who still believe.
