ABC Classic FM CD of the Week: 25th June 2012

Joe Chindamo is an internationally acclaimed pianist, composer and arranger, while his wife Zoe Black is one of the leading Australian classical violinists of her generation.

They have collaborated on ReImaginings, a new CD that opens classical repertoire and expands it within an improvisatory framework. The result is not jazz/classical crossover, but rather the product of two artists creating a musical dialogue with a combined language. This musical outcome is one of significant beauty and of wide appeal. or as Joe states, ‘I wanted to keep Handel, but not his wig.'Chindamo’s piano skills have gained him international reputation, recording and performing with artists such as Billy Cobham, Ray Brown, Breker Brothers and James Morrison.

Zoe Black has appeared as soloist with the Tasmanian and Melbourne Symphony Orchestras and the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra, in 1996 taking position of Assistant Leader with the Australian Chamber Orchestra.
