Phil Richards
The classical-guitaristwith-the-movie-star-looks’second album is a collectionof Latin Americanpieces. Featured here areCarlos Gardel’s ‘Por UnaCabeza’ (popular from the film Scent of aWoman), Piazzolla’s classics ‘Libertango’ and‘Oblivion’, and the folk hit ‘Quizás, Quizás,Quizás’ in a new arrangement for sologuitar and string orchestra. Karadaglicreally shines on the solo pieces – VillaLobos’s ‘Prelude No.1’(one of Milos’signature tunes heard in many of hisconcerts around the world), and LeoBrouwer’s beautiful ‘Un dia de noviembre’are standouts on a recording that is notshort on memorable moments. This is awell balanced programme that will onlyenhance Karadaglic’s standing in the worldof the classical guitar. He tours Australiain November of this year.
