Fuelled by youthful enthusiasm and considerable artistry, Hilary Hahn's accounts of Bach's concertos buzz not only with rhythmic energy but joie de vivre. Barely 24 years of age, Hahn plays with the seasoned determination of a true virtuoso. In her no-nonsense approach to the faster movements she is ably abetted by the eager Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra under Jeffrey Kahane and in the slower movements her old-fashioned narrow vibrato brings a distinctive and nostalgic flavour to Bach's irresistable melodies. The addition of the Concerto for Oboe, Violin and Strings (BWV 1060) to the two solo concertos and the Concerto for Two Violins in D minor (BWV 1043) brings an added colour to an already colorful hour of fine music.
