Two friends. One book of revenge. Zero consequences?

As a soldier’s daughter, Romola’s been to six schools in eight years, always having to make new friends a and now enemies. Meanwhile, Sebastian’s mum is about to make the biggest mistake of their lives, unless Sebastian can find his dad in time to stop her. Thrown together by chance, these two thirteen-year-olds set out to even the score. But once that big old ball of revenge starts rolling down the hill, there’s not an awful lot they can do to stop it a or is there?

Review

Young teens Romola and Seb don’t have their dads at home. Romola’s is a soldier in Afghanistan, and Seb’s is just AWOL from his family, his place about to be filled by a new man.

Seb can’t handle it and wants to get his own back. When Romola’s plans for a fresh start at school are scuppered by a mean girl, she gets a taste for revenge too. But where will it end?

The dual narrative works brilliantly and readers will love Romola and Seb and their genuine, platonic relationship. A moving read for sophisticated ages 9 and up.
