A Quiet Flame

In the fifth Bernie Gunther novel, the former Berlin homicide detective seeks exile in Argentina in 1950. Ironically he escapes Germany through a network that helps ex Nazi's. One of his fellow passengers is Adolf Eichman. A few weeks after he arrives he is approached by a local policemen, Colonel Montalban, aware of his true identity. Montalbam is investigating the murder of a fiften year old girl. The crime bears great similarities to two unsolved cases that Gunther investigated in Germany in 1932. Kerr weaves history into this gripping thriller.
