Mike Leigh’s films enjoy worldwide popularity with critics and audiences alike, and have won many awards. Funny, sad, often moving, and always acutely observed, Leigh’s stories are famously made by him by starting without a script, instead taking his actors on a creative journey, out of which comes the finished film. Experience seven of his early films, some with new Director’s Commentaries, as well as two TV studio plays and five engaging short films. Everything has been painstakingly restored, and there is a host of insightful extras.
