Skins follows a group of teenagers living on the wild side, who get high, get drunk, get laid and get up for their A levels. This British series currently screening on SBS features a whole cross- section of teenagers, ranging across race, sexualities and social backgrounds, and the story lines are provocative and topical - anorexia, drug-taking, a guy who cheats on his girlfriend with another guy, a muslim who has to deal with his family's disapproval of his best friend's sexual orientation. This is not sanitized, politically correct viewing; and the nudity and swearing and highly energetic film-making and acting make for the kind of in-your-face television which you've come to expect from the land of the Original Queer as Folk and Shameless.
