Exploring the startling divide between educated urban China and its rural backwaters, Blind Mountain focuses on the life of university graduate Bai Xuemei. Unable to find a job and anxious to pay off her family's debts, Bai is ecstatic when she is offered a position scouting for medicinal herbs in the remote countryside.
