I Vitelloni

Martin Scorsese cites this early Fellini film as one of the most important in his career, ultimately influencing Mean Streets. The semi-autobiographical I Vitelloni is a collaboration between Fellini and his brother Riccardo and a fond depiction of their hometown. It tells the story of five men who drift through their lives with no pressure to accomplish, discussing only the important things ¾ such as wine and women. Each character is created with great empathy and audiences will relate to how they find a motivating force to drive them to exist from day to day in such a sleepy town.
