At the end of last year Will Oldham grabbed Espers’ lead vocalist Meg Baird, cellist Margie Wienk and producer/engineer Greg Weeks to record this mini album consisting of seven of his favourite covers and one original. Although some of the covers may seem a little left of centre (such as metal icon Glen Danzig’s Am I Demon?), with the help of both Wienk and Baird’s delicate touches, Oldham delivers the songs in his signature reflective poignancy that is sure to keep Bonnie Prince Billy’s legion of subjects coming back for more.
