At the invitation of his friend Harry Lime (Welles), Holly Martins (Cotton) arrives in Vienna only to discover his friend has died in suspicious circumstances. In his attempt to unravel the mystery surrounding his friend’s death Martins uncovers a web of intrigue and deceit involving the black market, multinational police and a mysterious Czech woman.
