Curated and produced by Aaron and Bryce Dessner of The National, Dark Was The Night signifies the 20th release and the 20th year of Red Hot -- and everyone seems to agree that it’s quite a celebration. The compilation comprises 31 new and exclusive tracks on double CD or triple vinyl. Tracks include covers of songs originally made famous by the likes of Bob Dylan, Nick Drake, Bright, Eyes Nina Simone and more.
Featured artists also contribute brand new original material, plus there’s some inspired one-off collaborations from Gillian Welch and Conor Oberst, Antony and Bryce from The National, Jose Gonzalez and The Books, Dirty Projectors and David Byrne, and Bon Iver's Justin Vernon and The National’s Aaron Dessner. All sales of the CD and LP will benefit the Red Hot organisation -- an international charity dedicated to raising funds and awareness for HIV and AIDS.
