Our Endless Numbered Days (Vinyl)

Prior to the release of this recording, my knowledge of Iron and Wine was very limited, but now I would have to say I’m a huge fan. With this new cd Sam Beam (the genius that is Iron and Wine) has chosen to move from the comfort of his home to the rarified air of the recording studio. This fortunately doesn’t play havoc with Beam’s voice and the cleaner studio sound gives the impression that Iron and Wine are playing live in your own home. Technology aside none of this would be relevant without a great collection of songs. From the opening ‘On Your Wings’ to the closing ‘Passing Afternoon’ Beam goes from strength to strength. He also gets great support from his band and his sister Sara’s harmonies on a few tracks. To sum up this is a beautiful, thoughtful and gentle recording, and if you liked the earlier recordings then this should definitely please you.
