Andreas Scholl first sang the music of J. S. Bach as a boy chorister. Now the leading countertenor of our time, he returns to his musical roots with his own selection of arias from Bach?s Cantatas - including one of the best-loved of all Bach?s vocal works, ?Ich habe genug?

*?There are more excellent countertenors before the public today than ever before, but one of them stands out above all others as Caruso among tenors a century ago: Andreas Scholl?( (Fanfare Magazine

Review

There was something delicious about the opening of this album. Some recordings have it, some don’t and this one really does. Don’t worry about the fact that Andreas Scholl is possibly one of the greatest counter tenor currently living, the orchestra murmuring under his soaring voice are deserving of just as much praise. In the past I will admit that I’ve found Bach Cantatas quite dry and not particularly appealing. This recording has changed my mind completely and I look forward to listening to this recording repeatedly over the next few months.
