Sculthorpe Quamby Nourlangie

This is the next title in the Tasmanian Symphony's Australian Composer Series. Conducted by Richard Mills, it also features two Australian soloists: Karen Schaupp (guitar) on 'Nourlangie', and Sue-Ellen Paulsen (cello) on 'Cello Dreaming'. The works selected are all lyrical, with hints of darkness coming through in 'Quamby', based on a story told by Sculthorpe's father about an incident with a tribe of Aborigines at Quamby Bluff. A thoroughly Australian disc, beautifully performed and recorded.
