Megan Washington’s debut album is a series of sonic polaroids – according to the artist herself. Having begun her music career as a jazz singer, releasing the wonderful EP Nightlight in 2007, she has enjoyed a remarkable 12 months.

After winning triple j’s Unearthed competition, she formed her band, Washington, who played their first gig together at the Big Day Out in January. But probably the biggest leg-up was her appearance on Spicks and Specks in September last year. Within 24 hours she was well and truly on the radar, and her EPs shot into the iTunes Top Five.

At Readings we certainly experienced an exceptional reaction to her success, with people flocking in looking for her music. And now, finally, after three EPs, a full album emerges. Unashamedly pop, it contains all of her hits: 'Clementine', 'How to Tame Lions' and 'Rich Kids'. This album is going to be huge!

Megan Washington will be performing songs from her album live at Readings Carlton on Thursday August 5 at 6pm.
