October is a blockbuster month for new releases – and last week’s list of bestselling books is testament to this fact.

Our top ten bestsellers include memoirs from influential musicians (Working Class Boy, Born to Run), and two memoirs from amazing Australian writers (Fight Like a Girl, The Boy Behind the Curtain).

We’re thrilled to see so many readers getting excited about Hannah Kent’s brand-new second novel. Editor of Readings Monthly Elke Power says: ‘Kent has written a timeless story of human frailty and a gripping period drama.’ Read her full review here.

We’re equally thrilled to see that readers are still snaffling up copies of A.S. Patrić’s Miles Franklin winning novel. Patrić works as a bookseller at our St Kilda shop, and you can read a Q&A with him here.

After a powerful event last week featuring journalist Stan Grant in conversation with author Richard Flanagan, it’s heartening to see Grant’s memoir once again making its way into new hands. Thank you so much to everyone who came along – the event raised $21K for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation which is an absolutely wonderful result.
