Introducing our event program for March

Kick off your month with a bit of political controversy. Mark Latham will be at our Hawthorn shop on Thursday 12 March to talk about his new collection of essays, Latham at Large. He’s a man who’s never lost for words, so it’s sure to be an entertaining night.

If politics isn’t your thing, there are three book launches to choose from on that same evening: Ilka Tampke will launch her debut historical fiction, Skin, at our Carlton shop; Kate Holden will launch S.J. Finn’s new novel, Down to the River, at the St Kilda Bowling Club; and Cate Kennedy will launch David Carlin’s biography of Sosina Wogayehu, The Abyssinian Contortionist, at The Melba Spiegeltent.

One of the absolute highlights of the month is Hannie Rayson, one of Australia’s best-loved playwrights. She will be in conversation with our St Kilda shop manager, Amy Vuleta, about her highly anticipated memoir, Hello Beautiful!.

Food-lovers should come along to hear local chefs (and sisters) Helena and Vikki Moursellas talk on putting together their cookbook, Taking You Home: Simple Greek Food for Friends & Family with our resident foodie Chris Gordon.

Young adult readers will be tempted by two launches of books by Australian authors: Gabrielle Williams’ The Guy, The Girl, The Artist and His Ex (a fresh take on the notorious theft of Picasso’s Weeping Woman from the National Gallery of Victoria) and Ellie Marney’s Every Move (the latest instalment in the popular Every series).

We’re also extremely excited about hosting the monthly Kill Your Darlings First Book Club event series in 2015! Join Kill Your Darlings’ online editor Veronica Sullivan in conversation with Erin Gough about her Ampersand Project-winning YA novel The Flywheel.

Browse our full event program to find even more fantastic authors and events including a couple of special guests in April: Kate Grenville and Paul West.
