Over the weekend AussieCon4 - the 68th World Science Fiction
Convention - wrapped up at the Melbourne Convention Centre with the
announcement of the winners of the 2010 Hugo Awards for the best
science fiction or fantasy works.
One of our favourite Australian artists Shaun Tan won his first Hugo award in the category for Best Professional Artist and Melbourne Writers' Festival favourite China Miéville (left) won the Best Novel prize for The Cityand The City, which was a joint-winner of the prize with Paolo Bacigalupi's The Windup Girl.
The awards ceremony was hosted by Australian author Garth Nix, whose opening speech can be found here, and the night began with this introductory video.
