It's been awhile since I got really excited about a new Interior book (it's also been awhile since I posted a blog, I apologise for that!). So you can imagine the little happy dance that I did when I read about Creative Space By Francesca Gavin, in which we get a lovely little look into different creative people's homes and studios from around the globe. These sorts of books make me happy in so many ways. First, i'm a born sticky beak. I love getting a glimps into peoples houses, checking out their bits and pieces and guessing the sort of person they are. I also love nothing more than seeing where creative people.....well.....create!

So when I heard about this new book I was constantly pestering our receiving staff, asking what boxes had arrived and whether or not it was in there. And, finally it was. And it is simply wonderful. From old creators to young, this book contains nothing but brillant colour, amazing interior design, and lovely little interviews, giving us a little taste of the person behind the house. If there is one interior design book you buy this year, make it this one....as this book truely inspires. reading_matters

In other news, the Reading Matters conference was held last Friday and Saturday. Put on by the Centre For Youth Literature, the group that assembled there were treated to some wonderful discussions and talks, given by some of Australia's, and the Worlds, most brilliant YA writers and illustrators.

Isobelle Carmody gave us a little view into her mind, how she goes about her writing and what books are still inspiring her today. John Green made us almost wet our pants with laughter in his speach given on the first day of the conference and Tim Flannery gave an inspiring speech to our very lucky group about the state of the world and what we can do to inspire young people to get in on the action. The atmosphere was great, with the passion and focus all being on getting young people to read and be excited by doing so. A great 2 days were had by all, with much thanks to The Centre For Youth Literature for putting on such a wonderful event.
